Oliver Goldsmith was a famous poet, historian, and novelist He lived in Lissay in twenty Longford The ruins at his home are still to be seen on the Ballymahon road going into Athlone. He is an author of many good poems and songs. He went to school to a teacher named Mr Tom Byrne in Lissoy He also went to school to Edgeworthstown When he was a child he look interested in the beauty of his district and then when he grew up to be a man, he left his home and went to England and France and in the latter place he wrote about the scenes of his boyhood(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
