Every other household in olden times had a trade or craft which they worked at. In olden times in Ireland the country people cut reeds or rushes and dried them, when well dried they were then fried in fat generally lard for some minutes. they were then taken out and put standing to dry. the rush candle was then ready for use Baskets was made by handy old men for all purposes They cut sally rods. boiled and peeled them for fancy work, such as ladies fancy work baskets, fruit baskets and clothes baskets some of them(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
