- It is told that St. Patrick and his followers were one day travelling a few miles below Moynalty. His companions got thirsty and he made the Sign of the Cross over the ground. A spring of water immediately burst forth and the same well is to be seen still, known as "St. Patrick's Well". This water has several times been tested and it was found that it will not boil at any cost.
