    Mass - - Penal Days.
    According to many, there is a tradition that Mass used to be celebrated during the Penal Days in one of our fields at Clonmore and that the "print" of the Blessed Virgin's knees was left on a stone. This stone was removed to one of Mullaney's fields a few hundred yards away.

    N.B.:-
    It is interesting to note that the spot where the stone was removed to at Mullaney's (above mentioned) is, according to local tradition the location of a convent where flourished two sisters, St. Gubbninet and St. Trea. Hence one version of meaning of word "Garryclogher" as [?]"garaide Clochair" - the Convent garden. The writer of this note was personally acquainted with one Thomas Meehan of
