- About fifty years ago there were two old schools in the picturesque little village of Labasheeda.
One was a boys school and the other was a girls' school the boys school was situated where Mr Hennessy is living now and the girls school was situated where Miss Mac Mahon is living now. Mr Sexton was the teacher of the boys school and Miss Basey was the teacher of the girls' school.
The walls was made of mud. The floor was made of small bits of stones and mud.
They usually went to school at eight or nine years and then they were as big as men before they left school.
The teachers at that time were harder than they are at the present and for that reason the boys used to scheme from school and spend the day near lonely ditches and hedges.
