    Perished in Snow:-
About a hundred years ago an old woman from Kilbrack was frozen to death while coming home Carrick. People still point out the place where she died. It is a bend in the old boreen leading to Kilbrack and the place is about a quarter of a mile from where her home was. It is said that a light appears there on All Souls Night.
    Drownings:-
One night a girl while crossing the stepping stones at Poulruby on the river Clodagh slipped on a stone which was covered by a flood that had risen after a heavy shower. She was swept away by the flood and was found caught in a tree next morning. That place has since been called “Poll na Gearcaile”. It is between Shanakill Bridge and the stepping stones and is nearer the latter.
