  1. In August 1937, a young girl named Lily Mulligan (8 or 9 years) was sent from her home in Arva to a field near the town where they had a cow grazing. She was told to take the cow home to be milked. On going through the grove at Hollybank, the girl stated that she saw a fairy man & woman dancing in a ring in the Grove. She came home frightened and told her mother what she had seen. Feeling that the girl was mistaken, the mother send her back accompanied by her brother Kevin
In a short time both came back crying & frightened, & saying they had seen the fairies in the ring. Another boy was then sent for the cow but he did not see anything unusual. The story caused a certain amount of excitement in the town at the time, and was reported in the local paper - The Anglo Celt. I questioned the boy named above - Kevin Mulligan - about the matter, but could not get from him the story as reported.
