- (continued from previous page)names:-The boards are called the staves, the rims that are around it are called hoops, the top of it is called the cribs.In winter the milk is churned once a week. In summer if it is not sent to the creamery it is churned twice a week.It usually takes an hour in a hand churn, and a quarter of an hour in a turning churn.Without the churn the people would have to send all their milk to the creamery.
- Were it not for the forge the farmer would not be able to get his implements repaired.There are a number of forges in this district namely : - Boylan's, Mc Cabe's, and Fitche's, the best known of these is Jack Boylans.
