- There was a crock of gold found in Degnavanty Fort, Cootehill, Co. Cavan about fifty six years ago. It was supposed to have been hidden there by the Danes. It was found by a man named Philip King, Corragarry, Cootehill.
He was hunting for rabbits, and one went into a burrow in the fort. He started to dig him out of the burrow. When he had dug down a few feet he turned up a broken sword. He dug some distance further and struck a crock of gold. He lifted it up and brought it home.(continues on next page)- Collector
