  1. Long ago in the penal time in Ireland the English used to hunt priests and they out a price on their heads.
    The priest would have to hide in a hiding place and would say Mass on a Mass stone in a hiding place too.
    There is a Mass stone in Slevin's field next to Maudabawn Chapel where the priests used to say Mass. The people would come from here and there every morning and they would stay in turn at the top of the hill to watch for fear of the coming of the soldiers.
