which was used for celebrating Mass during the Penal Laws.
The well is in a very remote district and can be reached only by a mountain pass on Bauregegann .It is said that there were protestants visiting some people in that parish once,
and when they heard the history of the well they were envious of it .so they got men to drain it and since then it is dry.It is also said that the men that were responsible for the drainage died soon after.- Collector
