    at other times large bundles of hay ,straw etcwere tied with long "soo gawns" called "Lloof-sucks"and carried one on either side of the horse back.
    The harness in both cases consisted of a curved piece of wood called the "crutch"which fitted over the animals back;it had two strong wooden "pins"on top from which loads were suspended and a large mat of plaited straw on either side to protect the animal's sides.it was held in position by by a "soo-gawn" belly band .
    The first cars in this district had "block"wheels and wooden axles.The wheels were cut from a large tree and were without iron bands.
