Potatoes.
When the land is fine, potatoes are sown in drills
This is how it is done:-First the land is ploughed and then harrowed and after about a week the same operations are performed a second time.Then the drills is opened with a plough and two horses .Then the farm-yard manure or "dung"is put out with a horse and cart ,and each cart being put being put out in a heap.Next it is "picked"and spread.Then the "shop manure" or "bag stuff" is shook on top of the farm yard manure.Then the "sgiollan" or seed is spread on top of the manure and then the drills are closed.After about three weeks they scuffled to take away the weeds.Then they are knocked with a four pronged fork or a bush.The bush is tied to a horse ,with a stone or some weight on top of it .They can also be knocked with the end of a creel.They are rose with a scuffler in about four days afterwards .In three weeks they are scuffled or "softened"and the weeds scraped away with a hoe.Then in a forthnight afterward,the boards are put on the scuffler and the drills are moulded ,a second time.
