When this carol is sung they get the money. They also take musical instruments with them and play music and dance. When the day is over they divide the money equally. In the night they usually have a little party.
On Shrove Tuesday night boys go around and throw bottles at old bachelors door who are not married. It is also a custom to make pan-cakes on that night and to keep a piece of holly and ivy and burn it under them.
On St. Brigid's night people get a piece of ribbon and put it on a bush and in the morning it is supposed to have stretched an inch and it cures a headache.
