Out of this rod-iron he also made pig-rings. These did not in the least resemble our present pig-rings. They were made thus - Suppose one of the above horse-nails made, except that it would be thinned out somewhat more. Now flatten out head of nail on anvil. Curl the flattened end. The sharp end is forced thro' pig's nose. This pointed end is now curled (to prevent its coming out) with a key. The key was made by smith. It was just like key used to open sardine box(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
