- There is an old graveyard in Ballyburke. A great many people are buried in it. Long ago a poor man lived with himself in a little cottage on the side of the road. Although he was poor he was a good Christian. He used to go to mass every Sunday with barely a shoe to his foot. Often he had to fast from morning to night without a bite to eat. So the days of the famine he died of hunger. The people of the village wound him up in a sheet and buried him in Ballyburke.(continues on next page)
