    ORIGIN OF NAME FORTH
    The name is spelt in a variety of ways - Forth, Fothart, Ffodyr, Ffodeyr, etc., and its origin seems obscured by the mists of the past. The Irish name for the Barony i Fotharta an Chairn, or Fothart of the Carn, to distinguish it from "Fotharta Fea", now the Barony of Forth in Co. Carlow. According to the story
