    The matter was reported to the Sheriff of the county. Brian Coyne was arrested and sentenced to a long term of imprisonment in a convict settlement
    After some time he was put in charge of a number of convicts and allowed a certain ammount of freedom.
    One day seeing his chance he snatched a gun from one of the warders and shot the Governor of the settlement.
    For this crime he was sentenced to death and hanged on the island where he had already been a prisoner for several years.
