- People were also able to make linen from flax. They grew their own flax. When it was ripe they pulled it and put it into a pond of water.
This caused the bark to decay and was easily removed. Then it was taken to a flax mill and made into linen. This beautiful white linen was made into linen bed-clothes and there was no house without them.
Some of these linen clothes are still preserved.
