  1. The birds that are to be found in the district, are the robin, blackbird, thrush, wren, crow, seagull, swallow, sparrow, grey-linnet, lark and corn-crake. The swallow, corn-crake and cuckoo leave this country and go to another land. The robin builds its nest in the side of a ditch or hedge. The crow builds its nest in a thornbush and the nest is made of sticks and moss. The crows eggs are white with black spots on them.
The bird sits on the eggs about a fortnight. Weather can be judged by the behaviour of the birds.
The swallow when it flies low rain is then expected.
