  1. Long ago there were a great many marriage customs.
    It was said that May and December were unlucky months to get married and Friday and Saturday were unlucky days.
    Shrove is the most frequent time for marriages.
    When a couple were going to get married the fathers of the couple and a few neighbours would go to town and make the match.
