  1. in every District of Ireland we find little prayers taught to the children at home by their parents or grand-parents. These have come down to us from our ancestors and are very valuable. In some parts of Ireland these prayers are in Irish.
    I say this prayer going to bed at night.
    "Here I lay me down to sleep.
    I give my soul to God to keep
    Whether I wake now or never
    I give my soul to God forever.
    There are four corners on my bed
    There are four angels round it stead
    St Matt, St Mark, St Luke, St John
    God bless the bed that I lie on.
