    by dropping stones on it or by striking it with some weighty object.
    In 1248 the Manor of Esker was granted to Peter de Bermingham whose descendants retained possession of some of it until the middle of the following century. From a "Regal Visitation" of 1615, it appears that the Church was then in repair but that the chancel was in ruins.
