    fell into the lake. These tells are heard ringing on stormy nights. It is from these bells that the lake derives the name. It gets the name “Shade” from the Irish “Seoid” which means “jewels.” The exact value of the treasure is not known but it is estimated that it runs into tens of thousands of pounds.
    The treasure is supposed to be guarded by a “durko” which comes from the Irish “dabhar-cu” meaning a poisonous hound. This animal is like a large hound except for a large beak which is supposed to be poisonous. The lake has a very uncanny and eerie appearance.
    No attempts have been made to unearth the treasure principally because the “durko”
