    Even to this day when a person is finished milking he makes the sign of the cross on the (on the) cow's tail. (^with the milk). I often saw this done and often asked myself what it meant.
    One day I asked an old woman what did this practice mean. She told me it kept the cows safely from the fairies; also that it was believed the cow was supposed to have an abundance of milk after this practice was carried out.
