  1. There are four castles in bulcastle one large one still in good preservation in the center of the townland another further west. Through which the village road now runs, the walls of which are gone and used for building purposes but slow bushes grow there in a circular form and in the center is an underground cave leading to the principal castle. This is called caislin another castle is in matlin rain land further westward. The better stones in the wall for building I purpose further south in john haydens land
