  1. Bold dark and dreary blew the wind
    And thickly fell the rain
    When Eliza left her own dear home
    And came not back again
    She left her widowed mother's side
    Nere felt the drenching rain
    But drew her coat around her
    And walked quickly from the door
    The night being gone the day came on
    And Eliza was not home
    Which caused her weeping friends to think
    Where Eliza thys could roam
    At length her mother started up
    And cried in decenls wild
    I'll search the country oer and oer
    Or find my darling child
    For three long weavy weeks
    She spent in wandering up and down
    Her journey proved of no avail
    For Eliza was not found
