  1. I live in the townland of Glenavenue, the parish of Addergoole and the barony of Tirawley.
    TIrawley got its name from a King's son named Awley, that lived in Connaught long ago.
    There are seven dwelling houses in the village, all of which are thatched.
    The population is thirty-five people; the name most common Joyce.
    There are three persons over seventy years of age, namely Michael Moffatt, Ann Moffatt and Thomas Queenan. None of them has any knowledge of Irish either oral or written.
