  1. The two special times of the year for marriages are six weeks before lent and six weeks before Advent. The Candlemas bride or the June bride is supposed to be a very lucky bride. An old superstition is to borrow something from a friend and wear it, also wear something old on your wedding day and it will be very lucky. The brides parents always give her a dowry. At the old fashioned marriages some years ago the bride and bridegroom asked all their friends to meet them at the church on the morning of their marriage. Then they would all march in couples to the brides home where they all would have breakfast. They would then dance in a barn or loft till dark then they would all have dinner with plenty of whiskey and wine. Then they would all start dancing again till morning and then they would all go home. The following Sunday called the "Out going Sunday" they all assembled again at the bride's home and there they used to dance and sing again till morning.

  2. Mostly all people about here marry before Lent.
Tuesday and Thursday are lucky days to get married. May is an unlucky month. It is unlucky for a bride to wear black or green.
