- They ate four meals in the day. They got their breakfast, dinner, tea and supper. The meals were eaten at eight o'clock, 12 o'clock, six o'clock and ten o'clock. Milk was drank at dinner hour. Buttermilk was drank also. The table was near the wall. The table was never hung up. Homemade bread was eaten. It was made from flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and buttermilk. Salt meat was eaten. No certain food was eaten on special occasions. No certain customs were attached to certain feast days. Eggs were eaten on Easter Sunday. I don't know when tea was first used. Bowls were used before cups became common.
