  1. The custom that is observed locally about St. Brigid is on St Brigid's day rushes are cut after night and the breedogues, that is a band of young men go to the neighbour's house and they knock at the door with the rushes. Then some one of the house says "Cé hé sin ag doras" but the breedogues say nothing. The door is opened and they go in and out of the house three times.
    After this the rushes are put under the supper table and the supper is eaten. When the supper is over St. Brigid's crosses are made and hung in the four corners of the house. This is supposed to bring Brigid's blessing on the house.
    Here is another custom that is not observed as locally as the other one. On Saint Brigid's night the man of the house steals some of the clothes belonging to the woman of the house
