  1. There were two or three schools in my district long ago. Two were on the old road leading through the town land of Gortnacarkougue and Tawnyhoosy.
    The other was in the town land of Liscorman.
    In two of these schools masters tag taught. One mas was called Gallagher and the other Manson. There was not any school houses, but the children me in an old house which was unoccupied, and in an old byre.
    Each child in the school, on his or her turn, had to keep the teacher for a week. Every day the scholars to had to bring the master a penny to pay for his teaching.
