   The houses long ago were made of clay. The walls were made of clay, and the roofs of thatch. The floors were made of clay. The fire place was boarded. There used to be a half door in the kitchen to keep out the hens. The hens used to rest in the houses at night, and the pigs used to stay in it too. The cows used to be tied in the kitchen. The people used to make the tea in a porringer.
