    On St. Stephen's Day he was caught in the furze
    Although he is little his family's great
    Rise up landlady and give us a trate hurra
    We hunted the wran three miles and more
    Through hedges ditches briars and stones
    We hunted him up and we hunted him down
    Till wan of our little boys knocked him down hurra
    On Christmas night I burned my thumb
