  1. There is a story told about the Big Wind of 1839. A mother and her son were going home one evening. The man was helping his mother along until the wind got too strong. The man had a bit of rope so he tied his mother to a bush. He went home to see if their house was standing. When he had come back again to the place where he had left his mother there was not a trace of herself or the bush, and she was never seen afterwards.
