  1. It was Ash Wednesday morning
    t'was pleasant to see.
    The boys and girls from
    this locality.
    They dashed up from chamber
    through mountains through wood.
    And they making for Sceiligs
    as fast as they could.
    T'was only chance the merest
    chance they did not pass unseen.
    The weather was so very bad not
    many out had been.
    But luckily the postboy with
    his literary load.
    Between the Pike and Ducksgrove
    lodge met them on the road.
    Right faithfully he told me the names
    of all he knew.
    And some escaped his notice but they
    were very few.
    When first he noticed their approach,
    he said he grew afraid.
    That such an awful concourse
    would make on him araid
    He quickly noticed women scattered
