  1. St Bridget's Night
This is also called Biddy's Night.
On the night before St Bridget's day young men dress up in the queerest clothes they can get, and put masks on their faces. One of them carries a melodeon, and another a rag-doll which is called a "Biddy." They go around from house to house collecting money. With the money they buy a foot-ball or pay the expenses of a dance.

  2. Shrove Tuesday night is called "pan-cake night." as it is the custom to have pan-cakes for the supper.
Marriagable people who do not get married during Shrove as said to go to Sceligs in that night. A poem called a Sceligs list is made about them.
