   St Brigid's cross is hung in cowhouse to bring good luck, and blessing, on the cattle.
   Bless Palm is put hanging from the rafters on Palm Sunday.
   The cattle and their sheds are Blessed with Easter water on Holy Saturday.
   Yellow flowers called Gushagawn are put near the door of cowshed to protect the milk against the fairies.

   If a swallow builds it nest in a cowhouse and if by chance the swallow is killed, or the nest be tampered with in any way the cow will milk blood, instead of milk. This happened in Connells about two years ago.
