Ar an leathanach seo

  1. In Ireland long ago there were no such things as schools like we have now but barns. My grandfather never went to a national school, he went to an old barn that was in the village and there they were taught by a teacher. There were no such things as seats but sods of turf to sit on and they used quills for writing with. They had no desks for to leave the paper on when they were writing but they used to put the slate under the paper and put it on their knee and write. They had a leather strap tied around the bottle of ink and they had a button hole in the leather strap and they would fasten the strap to the buttons of their coats. So that is the way the old people got their education.
