    In or about the year 1899 in the townland of Carnacull a small farmer named Mark Durkan built a barn adjacent to his house.
    The night after the work was completed the farmer and his family were aroused from their sleep and remained awake until day break listening to singing and dancing, and later to the terrible commotion that was taking place in the barn. They heard the angry voices of people arguing as if they were engaged in a fierce battle.
    At day break when the owner entered the barn he found blood stains all over the walls and floor. After breakfast himself and his two sons set to work pulling down the barn.
