- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)saying “pee, pee”. Fowl are very usefowl, and they do not give a lot of trouble . About thirteen eggs are put under hatching hens. Chickens come out in three weeks; ducks, geese, and turkeys take a month. Some people believe that it is not lucky to put four hatching down at the same time; and others do not like to give away hatching hens unless they get them back again. They think that it brings bad luck on their own fowl. Long ago the people marked the eggs when they put them down for hatching. When they were feeding the chicken they used to make the sign of the cross on the chickens’ backs with the meal. This is not done now.
