“Long ago it was all oat bread that was eaten.”
Long ago it was all oat bread that was eaten. First the men threshed the corn and sent it to the mill. Afterwards the meal came home and the people started to make oat cakes and stirabout. When the cake was made they baked it with flour, and put it on the griddle beside the fire. It was done in an hour. Afterwards there was tea made and the cake was eaten. There was an iron stick up to the griddle.- Collector
