   Goodbye to dear old Ireland
   The place where I was born
   Hills, dales, and flowering vales,
   Green grass, and yellow corn;

   When I think of dear old Ireland
   The home I left behind.

   When I was leaving old Ireland
   I bade my friends adieu,
   I stood on the bridge of Barnesmore
   The country round to view,
   I gazed along old Árd-ná-páírc
   Where I was many a time,
   Twas there I took my last fond look
   At the home I left behind.

   Then early the next morning
   With a sad and broken heart
   I stood upon my father’s floor
   And I said: “We now must part,”
   With my arms around my mother’s neck
   As the tears her eyes did blind
   I stole out from her arms
