- The Wreck of the True-LightOn the 11th November 1901 a fishing boat called the "True-Light" left Howth harbour for the fishing grounds about fifteen or twenty miles out from Howth harbour. It was a fine morning when it left. In the evening a storm arose and the boat was pitching madly on the waves, the crew were trying to gain the shelter of Arklow harbour, but, sad to say, just as they were close to the harbour, a wave dashed the boat against the land and it was broken in two. Eight men lost their lives. Pieces of the boat were found on the shore of Arklow but not one of the bodies was ever found.In Howth at the time there were only oil lamps used to light the streets, some of these were knocked down and the glass broken by the wind.Slates and chimneys were blown down, and a lot of trees were(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
