- St. Johns Night
St John's Night falls on the 23 - of June and that night is called Bonfire Night. On that evening the young people of the village go around from house to house gathering coal, sticks, turf, and oil in order to have a fine big fine that night. When the things are gathered they leave them on the road beside the green and some man from the village settles the coal, sticks and turf and makes a big fire. They light the fire about eight or nine o'clock. Then the people gather around the fire. Some of them go home at eleven or twelve o'clock and the rest stay at the fire singing and dancing until it is out and that usually is about three or four o'clock.- Bailitheoir
