    Wallscourt Castle
Wallscourt castle is situated about 300 or 400 hundred yards from the village of Kilrickle. It is in Mr Barret's land. It was built about one thousand years ago. People say it was built by the Danes.
It is made from sand mixed with the blood and hair of cattle. The hair of the cattle can be seen sticking through the walls still. After the Danes left this castle a Lord came to live in the castle. He was called Lord Wallscourt. He bought an acre round the castle that is why he was called Lord Wallscourt, but after a while he bought hundreds of acres and let it out in farms to tenants. Nobody lived in the castle for the past 500 years. There is nothing to be seen now except the ruins.
Both these castles are in parish of Cappatagle and in the barony of Leitrim.
It is said that the Lepreachán told George Mahon when he was building Ballydonelan Castle that he would prosper every until he would deal with a man sharper than a razor. He said that person would be a redhaired priest who would be in the next parish. The old people say for sure that the Mahons had a falling out with a red-haired priest that was in Mullagh and they faded away after that.
