    A man named Mr. Mannion and his wife travelled in the district in former years. First they had a public house in Athenry and were doing great trade but he drank all the money. Then he went begging through the country. He was cordially welcomed and people often stayed up for long hours listening to his stories. He has not been seen for some years. It is said he is in the County Home in Loughrea.
    Three familes Cashes, Connor and Comerfords travelled from Wicklow to Westport. They had huts built on the way. They played the bag-pipes in every town and they always came to Moylough for the fair on the 20th November, where they bought horses.
    A fortune-teller travelled in the district long ago. She was supposed to be able to cure toothaches. A girl had a toothache and she went to the fortune-teller
