John told her to go to the next house and borrow the bucket of flour until the next fair day. The next fair day came and he took another cow and every thing happened as usual. He met the boys and spent the last of his money. He went home and Mary asked him did he sell the cow and he said he did. She then asked him where the money was but it was the same story as before he had not a half-penny left.
