Shrove is the time for making matches and getting married.
On Shrove Tuesday there is a market held in Mount-Bellow and all the young men brings salt in their pockets and pegs it at the young girls for to keep them good for the next year to get married.
Ash Wednesday everybody goes to the Chapel to get a Cross in their foreheads with the blessed ashes
