- There was a big storm in 1846. It was called Parnell's storm. It started on the 5th March and it lasted three days. The big storm started on the day that Parnell was arrested. Houses were damaged and some of them were knocked down. During the storm the land was flooded and the roads and lanes were also flooded. There was a great many houses lost in the flood. The old people say that the only safe place to stand that night was under the capsel of the door. If the roof was blown in then they would be safe.
